Computer Braille Characters, Dots Chart.


     The computer braille character set was define to establish a
one for one relation ship between a print character and the
braille
character counter part.  In doing this, many of the grade 2
braille single character symbols were redefine to represent
numbers, punctuation and special computer symbols.

     A standard braille character is made up of six dots.  The
computer braille character is made up of eight dots.  They are 
represented as dots 1 2 3 7 4 5 6 8.  Please keep in mind that
dot 7 is below dot 3 and dot 8 is below dot 6.  In most cases the
use of dot 7 is to show that a alphabet character is an upper
case letter.  The absence of dot 7 means that the letter is a
lower case character.  

     When dealing with punctuation characters, dot 7 is specific
to the symbol in question.

     The below computer braille table is two braille charts in
one.  The first part of this braille table chart gives you the
character shape, what dots make up the character and when needed,
the text name of the symbol.  The second part of this braille
table chart gives you the character shape, what keys to press for
the character when using a braille note taker and when needed,
the text name of the symbol.

                Computer Braille Table Chart Two:

     This braille table chart was establish to help with exact
keys to press on a braille note taker.  Most braille note takers
only have 6 braille keys.  In most cases, when the need to type a
dot 7 you will half to hold down the (space bar) and type the
letter "u" known as (chord Dots 1 3 6). 
The note taker may say the word "cap".  At that point type the
character in question.
