A phone number is detected by four digits on the right preceeded by a dash ("-") and at least three digits. NOTE: PortTalk senses the end of a number by a space character. Hence, Area codes should not be separated from the rest of the phone number by a space if it is to be spoken a digit at a time. Examples: 248-588-7370 or (248)-588-7370 or (248)588-7370 PRINT SCREEN QUICK SILENCE When the active LPT speech channel is LPT1: a request to Print the Screen ("*" key in the PortTalk Menu) will cause the entire screen to be spoken. It is sometimes desirable to stop the speech before the entire screen is spoken. Push the [SHIFT][PrtScr] key combination to silence the voice during a Print Screen operation. You will return to the PortTalk menu and hear a single ping in about 1 second. SONIX/TTS Compatibility ----------------------- PortTalk works with SONIX:88 and Text-to-Speech:88 (TTS) to convert LPT and COM output into speech. SONIX:88 1.05 and TTS 1.01 are the first versions that completely work with PortTalk. If you are using eariler versions then contact Artic for information on upgrading your SONIX/TTS software.
