For those individuals planning to use Matrox Video Cards under Windows 95 with WinVision 95, below are changes to be made in your video display settings.. The following comes to us from Jerry Weichbrodt, of Livonia, Michigan. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Turning Off Power GDI Acceleration in the Matrox MGA Mystique Video Driver Settings by Jerry Weichbrodt Livonia, Michigan If you are using the Matrox MGA Mystique video driver to drive your video display in Windows 95, and if you have problems such as WinVision 95 not detecting the insertion pointer (caret) in Notepad or in a word processor, then you may need to turn off a feature called "Power GDI Acceleration" in your video card's advanced setup parameters. Here is how to turn off Power GDI Acceleration: 1. Press (Control-Escape) to bring up the Start menu. 2. Press "S" for the Settings menu. 3. Press "C" to open the Control Panel. 4. Press the "D" key repeatedly until you get to the "Display" item in the Control Panel window. 5. Press (Enter) to open the Display dialogue box. 6. Press (Shift-Tab) once to get to the file tab labeled "Background." 7. Press your (Right-Cursor) key three times to get to "MGA Settings." 8. Press your (Tab) key five times to get to the button called "Advanced." 9. Press your (Space Bar) to access the Advanced settings. 10. Press your (Right-Cursor) key once to get to the "Performance" file tab. 11. Press your (Tab) key seven times to get to the checkbox for "Use Power GDI Acceleration." 12. Press your (Space Bar) to uncheck the Use Power GDI Acceleration checkbox. 13. Press (Enter) to accept the change. 14. Press your (Tab) key four times to get to the "OK" button. 15. Press (Enter) to close the dialogue box. 16. Press (Alt-F4) to exit Control Panel. 17.
